Mobland isn’t Event Horizon (1997)—there’s no blood-soaked gravity drive or gateway to hell—but the feeling’s eerily familiar: power vacuum like a black hole, loyalty folding in on itself, and Harry Da Souza the lone fixer drifting through mob chaos like a man who's seen the other side and came back quieter. As warring crime families tear at the fabric of their world, it’s less about who wins and more about what’s left when the lights flicker and the hull starts to creak—Mobland doesn’t open a portal to hell, it just shows you we’re already living next door.MobLand
RipLinesManApril 9, 2025 - Lioness
A series that masterfully blends action, espionage and personal drama, Lioness introduces us to Cruz Manuelos, played by Laysla De Oliveira, a passionate Marine who takes on the dangerous challenge of infiltrating a terrorist organization. Alongside Zoe Saldaña as the determined head of the Lioness program, the series immerses us in a world of covert missions, questioned loyalties and human tensions. The plot hooks you with its unexpected twists and high-tension moments, while the performances elevate the story with emotional depth. It's an intense portrait of the sacrifice and complexity of covert operations. If you had to infiltrate an organization like Cruz, what do you think would be the most difficult for you?Lioness

I love this pilot episode so much. It's gritty and raw and funny and a hint of darkness. Chandler is a great actor for this character and Pierre supports him well. I can't wait for the next episode. My favorite line isn't "Are you afraid?"; it's "Are you beeping?" 😆Lanterns

LionessCan Somebody Please Move the Story Forward?
Here we go again. The season starts with some action and makes you think, “Oh wow, maybe they finally fixed the pacing.” Wrong. Soon enough, we’re back to people standing around talking forever, random characters nobody cares about, and entire episodes where almost nothing happens. Seriously, how much pointless dialogue does this show need? It’s honestly annoying because the show clearly CAN be good. The beginning proves it. But then the writers somehow manage to suck all the energy out of it and turn everything into another painfully slow slog. Same story every season: exciting start, then straight downhill.
HalloweenProve Me Wrong
Halloween (1978) is highly overrated. Its atmosphere, music and influence on the slasher genre are undeniable, but the movie itself is slow, thinly plotted and packed with questionable character decisions and convenient logic. Michael Myers is treated as terrifying largely because he has no explanation, which can feel less mysterious than simply underwritten. The film deserves credit for what it inspired, but its reputation as an untouchable horror masterpiece often exceeds what is actually on the screen.
Widow's BayCAIT’S PICK: Matthew Rhys, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
(Cait, Co-President) Matthew Rhys can do anything. It may just be an opinion, but it is one I think a lot of people share. That said, I’ve never seen him do what he does in Widow’s Bay. He walks a line of comedy, drama, and horror with ease – transitioning from one to another seeming ease. My only fear for him in this category is it being considered “comedy” when it is so much more than that. I also REALLY want to hear this acceptance speech.

Team ATX TV LOVES Reacher, so we’ve been looking forward to Neagley. It’s action packed, compelling characters, and we love seeing badass women on screen! But this has an extra connection for us..... Maria Sten was one of our 2017 ATX TV Pitch Finalists. We’ve been cheering her on for years, and it’s beyond special to watch someone we met early in their career do such AMAZING work.
BrothersOne Degree from ATX TV: Filmed in Austin
As part of our Curated Watchlist, we're highlighting current shows one degree from ATX TV! For more curated Watchlists, go to our Profile! Austin on screen is always a wonderful thing -- but Brothers hits particularly close to home. With support from the Austin Film Commission, this series brings together the local production community that we’re always proud to call our own. Add in hometown boys Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson as co-leads, the city we love, and the people who make great TV getting their moment right here at home. Win, Win, Win. (Watch, Watch, Watch). Bonus: ATX TV alum Maggie Phillips is the Music Supervisor!
LanternsCoach Taylor as a superhero?!
(Emily, Co-President) I’m not usually the first person to jump at a superhero show, normally I wait for people to recommend / tell me I’m going to like it. But HBO has a way of putting a spin on things that makes me lean in and want to watch. And it usually comes down to the characters and the dynamics between them. So, yes, I am both curious and excited about Lanterns. With Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen) and Chris Mundy (Ozark) behind the series, I’m expecting this to be more than just a superhero story. Knowing the show starts out with having to solve a murder in small-town America, but then turns into something much bigger, while also having a buddy-cop dynamic, and ALL the Green Lantern mythology…there’s going to be a lot that to dive into. I’m really interested to see what Lindelof and Mundy bring to this world—especially the relationship between John Stewart and Hal Jordan, and how it develops as they have to work together. Give me complicated characters, interesting dynamics, and a little mystery, and I’m in. And then there’s Kyle Chandler. If for no other reason, I will tune in for Kyle Chandler. He has a way of making every character feel completely real, and I can’t wait to see what he does with this one. Coach Taylor as a superhero. Yes, please!
Halloween🎃 My Personal Ranking Of All The Halloween Timelines 🔪
09: The Ressurrection Timeline 👇 Halloween 1978 ➡️ Halloween 1981 ➡️ Halloween H20 & Halloween Resurrection My Reason Why its Number 09 👉 The return of JLC as Laurie Strode gives this a very cool & interesting angle, and H20 really does feel like a proper and a very well done satisfying conclusion. Then Resurrection happened and totally ruined and undid the whole victory and closure of H20, that's why this timeline is at the very bottom of this ranking. 08: The Thorn Timeline 👇 Halloween 78 ➡️ Halloween 1981 ➡️ Halloween The Return Of Michael Myers ➡️ Halloween 5 The Revenge Of Michael Myers & Halloween The Curse Of Michael Myers. My Reason Why its Number 08 👉 First of all Halloween 4 is a brilliant Halloween movie. But Halloween 5 just like with Halloween Resurrection, completely ruins and undoes H4. And that bone chilling ending of H4 with Jamie Lloyd standing on top of the stairs with the clown costume & mask holding the scissors. It had that sense of full circle to it. A direct replica of the opening in Halloween 78. They should have left it there and started a new timeline. 07: The Rob Zombie Timeline 👇 RZ Halloween 2007 & RZ Halloween 2 My Reason Why its Number 07 👉 I appreciate RZ going for something different but the whole dialogue and seeing unicorns 🦄 and stuff like that is not what Halloween is about. While they are beautifully shot and have good performances in it. There are major plotholes and how they made Dr Loomis an absolute douchebag in Halloween 2009 was unforgivable. 06: The David Gordon Green trilogy 👇 My Reason Why it's Number 06 👉 While there were some of the best moments throghout this entire trilogy of films; however it doesn't justify the fact that plot wise & thematically this trilogy is all over the place. What were they thinking with Halloween Ends, it doesn't feel coherently connected to the trilogy at all. 05: The Season Of The Witch Timeline 👇 The most standout and blacksheep of the Halloween franchise, in the best way possible. It's the only Halloween film that doesn't have Michael Myers in it, apart from the Halloween 78 cameo on the TV 📺 But as much as I love "Season Of The Witch" and am a huge defender of that film; however at the same time though, they shouldn't have put in the Halloween universe and should have just had it as it's own separate thing altogether. Because if you took the Halloween title from it and don't have any of the cameos; then you wouldn't know it was part of the Halloween franchise. And yet its one of my absolute favourite entries in the entire franchise. Season Of The Witch is a complicated one 😂😂😂 04: The Loomis Trilogy Timeline 👇 Halloween 1978 ➡️ Halloween 1981 & Halloween 4 My Reason Why it's at Number 04 👉 From here on out, it's just preference because from this point on I love every single one of these timelines. 03:🥉Halloween 78 & Halloween 1981 Timeline 02:🥈The original as a Standalone/One & Done 01:🥇🏆 🎃 🔪 The H20 Timeline without Halloween Resurrection 👇 The H20 timeline with how it should have stayed and ended. This is my favourite timeline of the entire franchise. Which really makes for a very good and strong Halloween trilogy. That's the timeline, I watch every single year. The undisputed champion for me, out of all the possible Halloween timelines is this one.

The OdysseyUpdate: I am… underwhelmed?
Epic, impressive, and a great theater experience for the big screen. But I’m not sure I need to watch it again? If I watched this movie on an airplane I think I’d be bored? No impressive score, pacing of the story was messy, actors were fine, a few cool moments, but overall I didn’t think it was a life-changing movie. There are too many Nolan films that I’d rather watch over this.
